The Tilibola Skills Centre
The Tilibola Skills Centre was built as a joint initiative between The Chimp Rehabilitation Centre, Future in our Hands (a Scandinavian Charity) and students of The University of Glasgow with the intention of teaching the village ladies new skills which will enable them to earn money.
The ladies have been trained to make soap, bead necklaces and trinkets, tie dye and woven furniture. In order to help them to market their goods and to support our community we are displaying some of their goods on our web site. They are just beginning, so we don't have too many samples of any one thing. We will try and remove things from the website before they run out but to avoid confusion, it may be best to order and pay by cheque/cash so that we may more easily reimburse you.
The Tie Dye cloth is intended as a bed cover, but as we don't have sufficient sewing machines (or sewing skills) at present, it will need hemming and the pillow cases will require stitching. The F colourful beads are traditional Fula beads worn by the women. The majority of the people in our communities are Fulas who are traditionally a cattle herding, pastoral tribe. Please support the ladies of our communities, they are learning and improving all the time and they would appreciate your support so much.
