The 2009 Horse and Donkey Show was a HUGE success, it was better organised than it has ever been before, the staff at Horse and Donkey had worked so hard to prepare for it and the place looked absolutely immaculate and very impressive.

It looked even better once the volunteers had put up tents, gazebos, bunting and balloons.

The turn out and quality of the animals was most impressive and our judges had a tough time choosing the winners. Sadly this year our champion, Lion, was defeated. He was slightly lame and not quite on his usual sparkling form, but his wife, Tiger, won the best mare competition! This year's champion was a lovely little stallion who had travelled for a couple of days to get to us and he was a very popular winner.

The donkey judging becomes more and more difficult. The children now take such good care of their donkeys and spend hours in preparation for the show. One mother was telling me that her little boy had been appalled to find that when he came back from school, the donkey had not been watered during his absence. She said before, the donkey was watered morning and evening, now he insists that his donkey has access to water all the time and she had let him down by not topping up the bucket!
